CERBERUS MURAL

Created a 12’ by 11’ mural located on the first floor of the Jack Kephart Fine Arts Building as a commissioned piece for the Colorado Mesa University Fine Arts Department. I chose the image of the Greek mythological creature Cerberus to symbolize devotion and loyalty as a way to connect with the art students and faculty. The three heads also represented the three floors of the art building.

Doodle grid

To transfer my digital sketch of the mural onto the wall, I used a grid technique known as a doodle grid. By covering the wall with small, simple doodles and photographing the result, I was able to digitally overlay my mural design on top of the image. After aligning the digital sketch with the photo of the wall, I used the composite as a reference to accurately place each element of the design. Once the sketch was mapped out on the wall using a yellow paint marker, I began painting the individual colors to complete the mural.
